WSUS läßt sich auf einem OEM Small Business Server (z.B. Dell) nicht installieren minimieren

You cannot install Windows Server Update Services 2.0 on a computer that is running an original equipment manufacturer version of Windows Small Business Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

You cannot install Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) 2.0 on a computer that is running an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) version of Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the mini-setup for the OEM version of Windows Small Business Server 2003 adds the domain name in lowercase letters instead of in uppercase letters.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
1. Download the WSUS installer to the server. To do this, follow these steps:
a. On the computer that is running Windows Small Business Server, create a folder that is named WSUSFiles on the local hard disk.
b. Download Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Started with Microsoft Windows Server Update Services on Windows Small Business Server 2003. To download this guide, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/updateservices/downloads/WSUS.mspx (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=28c43d57-2e15-47b2-9a6f-1514aa3ed05f&DisplayLang=en)
c. Read this guide for information about how to register and download the latest version of the WSUSSetup.exe file.
d. Register to download the WSUSSetup.exe file.
e. On the Windows Server Update Services Registration Wizard page, answer all the required questions, and then click Continue.
f. When the file download security warning appears, click Save.
g. In the Save As dialog box, locate the WSUSFiles folder, and then click Save.
2. Prepare the WSUS database. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, click Run, and then type drive:\WSUSFiles\WSUSSetup.exe /X to extract the WSUS Setup files. drive: is the letter of the local hard disk.
b. When you are prompted for a location to extract the files, select the WSUSFiles folder.
c. Type CD drive:\WSUSFiles\wmsde, and then press ENTER.
d. Type the following command, but do not press ENTER until you have read the notes that follow the command:
Sqlrun03.msi InstanceName=WSUS BlankSAPwd=1 Reboot=ReallySuppress DisableNetworkProtocols=1 DisableAgentStartup=1 DisableThrottle=1
Notes
If you want to specify the drive letter where the database instance will be located, add the DataDir = Path argument to the command. Path is the path of the target folder in the file system.
This command implies that the WSUS database will have a blank password. However, during the actual installation of WSUS, a randomly generated password is set. You do not have to specify a password.
The command is not case sensitive.
e. Start the MSSQL$WSUS service. To do this, click Start, click Run, type Services.msc, right-click MSSQL$WSUS, and then click Start. If the service is not listed, rerun the command in step 2d of this procedure.
3. Install WSUS. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, click Run, type drive:\WSUSFiles\WSUSSetup.exe, and then press ENTER.
b. On the Welcome page of the wizard, click Next.
c. Read the terms of the license agreement carefully, click I accept the terms of the License Agreement, and then click Next.
d. On the Select Update Source page, specify where the client computers obtain updates. Click to select the Store updates locally check box, select a location to store updates or accept the default location, and then click Next. (If you do not store updates locally, the client computers connect to Microsoft Update to obtain approved updates.)
e. On the Database Options page, keep the default options, and then click Next. Because you installed WMSDE in the previous procedure, changing the options on this page of the wizard has no effect.
f. On the Web Site Selection page, specify a Web site for WSUS to use. Keep the default option, and then click Next.

Note This page lists the following two important Web addresses:
The Web address to which you point WSUS client computers to obtain updates.
The Web address for the WSUS console where you can configure WSUS.
g. On the Mirror Update Settings page, keep the default option, and then click Next. For information about how to use multiple WSUS servers in a central management topology, read the guide that you downloaded in step 1b.
h. On the Ready to Install Windows Server Update Services page, review the selections, and then click Next.
i. If the final page of the wizard confirms that WSUS installation is successfully completed, click Finish.
Note After you install WSUS, you can delete the drive:\WSUSFiles folder. However, do not delete the drive:\WSUS folder that is created when WSUS is installed.
